LDS Freeconomy

Freeconomy is a recently formed group dedicated to building local communities and reduce dependence on financial institutions and business, through cooperative sharing of skills, tools and land. Their website, www.justfortheloveofit.org, enables members to find other people in their community who share ideals of cooperation. In answer to the question: 'What is a freeconomy', the website answers:

A Freeconomy is a moneyless society in which no money changes and there is no duality between giving and receiving; here they are seen as the two sides of the same non-monetary coin.

The community emphasises face-to-face interaction between members, and therefore only allows three messages to be sent between members per month. Local groups are currently forming in over 89 countries around the world, encouraging raised awareness and participation in a more community-based and responsible world.

We encourage members of the LDS Cooperative community to join their local Freeconomy community. and to organize their own.

We also hope that you can meet with Latter Day Saints to organize your own "freeconomies". Our forum gives you a chance to meet up and organize.
